Baking Soda- The Natural Deodorant

My mother has been telling me to stop using the conventional deodorants that most of use as there are harmful chemicals and aluminum in them. I have bought several natural brands, that just don't seem to work for me. I sweat a lot when I work out, and there is no way, I am going to be the stinky sweaty girl


So...I gave it a try...(I also backed myself up with a deodorant in my gym bag...just in case!!)

Baking Soda on its own works! I did a 2 hour workout, and I am in my 41th week of being pregnant!! I tell you I was sweating today!


But over time, I think it would cause a bit of dryness and irritation. Therefore I did a bit of research and found that by mixing baking soda (which deodorizes)with corn starch (which is the antiperspirant) you get the perfect combination!!



Here is the recipe for an all natural deodorant!

  • In a reusable and resealable container, mix 1 part baking soda with 6 parts cornstarch.  
  • Close the container and shake to thoroughly mix the two powders.  
  • Then dab a small amount to the skin of your armpits with a soft cotton cloth, cotton ball, or cosmetic applicator.   
  • You shouldn't need to reapply the application as it should last at least a day 
  • No stains or residue on my clothing!

New reader, here. :) I'd like more testing of this. Have you been doing this daily? I did Tom's deodorant for a year, but then I started a new job and it just wasn't cutting it with the added stress. I'd like to stop using antipersperants, though.

Hi Lauren!! I have tried Tom's as well and honestly it really doesnt work for me! I have been doing this only for a few days, and I can honestly say, so far its working perfect! Give it a try, and do what I did (bring a back up with you, for your own security) and you will be amazed!!
